A tooth extraction may be the best option to improve your dental development and reduce pain
When tooth extraction is necessary
Our friendly staff work hard to save your teeth, but sometimes a tooth extraction may be the best option. A few reasons an extraction may be recommended include:
-
A tooth is too damaged to effectively repair
-
A tooth is abscessed
-
Severe infection or risk of infection
-
Crowding or otherwise impacting your dental development
Wisdom teeth extraction available at our Blackfalds clinic
Have your wisdom teeth removed at the same place you have your general dental care, with the friendly staff you know and trust. We offer wisdom teeth extraction in-house and rarely refer patients out.
Wisdom teeth start to emerge between the ages of 16 and 25, and may result in crowding, infection and discomfort at the back of your mouth. When teeth come up at an angle, they are considered impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause further problems, such as damage to nerves and adjacent teeth. Wisdom tooth extraction may also be necessary if you plan to receive orthodontic treatment.
Minimizing your discomfort when teeth are removed
The dentists at our Blackfalds clinic care about you and want to alleviate your discomfort during this treatment, which is why they will take their time with you.
Tooth extraction can be completed with dental sedation, if you prefer.
Once your tooth has been removed, we will spend time with you to ensure you have all the information and materials you need for a quick recovery. We also have an after-hours phone line in case you need any assistance once you are home.
Recovery from a Tooth Extraction
The recovery time will depend primarily on the type of teeth extracted and how closely you follow our post-treatment care instructions. Our goal is to have you return to your normal routine as quickly as possible while allowing the area to heal.
